Godfrey Yogarajah

Godfrey Yogarajah was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka in June 1963.  He graduated from the Union Biblical Seminary in Puna India with a B.Th. and a B.D. He is the General Secretary of the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL) where he has served since 1990, for the past 20 years. Godfrey Yogarajah also served as the General Secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of Asia for 7 years, from 2001 to 2008. 

A vigorous campaigner for religious freedom in Sri Lanka and Asia, Godfrey’s efforts were recognized and honoured with the ‘Good Samaritan’s Award’ presented by Advocates International in 2004. He was also presented with the

“Pro Fide Award” for 2005, for his contribution to the rights of the minorities by the Friends of the Martyred Church Finland.

Mr. Godfrey Yogarajah has given leadership to NCEASL to be involved in the areas of missionary and church planting, religious liberty and ministering to the persecuted church; and relief and development. Presently NCEASL is also working extensively in the refugee camps of Sri Lanka providing food, nonfood items, medical and psychosocial support to the IDP’s. NCEASL is also working with the ex combatants who are being rehabilitated by the government of Sri Lanka. 

He presently serves as the Executive Director of the religious liberty commission of the World Evangelical Alliance. 

Mr. Yograjah is married to Roshani who is working with the de-mining project of the United Nations in Sri Lanka.
