Rachael Orbeta is a 4th year PhD student in the Comparative Literature Department at Emory University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2019. In her undergraduate studies, Rachael focused on rhetoric and composition with an interest in contemporary American literature. After teaching 9th and 11th grade English from 2019 to 2021, she began her graduate education at Emory.
Her research focuses on literary theory, gender and sexuality studies, deconstruction, and Latinx literature. Alongside her graduate studies, Rachael is the managing editor for the International Journal of Religious Freedom at the International Institute for Religious Freedom and is the senior editorial assistant for Canopy Forum and the Journal of Law and Religion at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion.
