Dr. Georgia du Plessis research focuses on religious rights and freedoms – especially how they are managed in liberal public spheres.
After her master’s studies (from 2008) her research naturally extended into academia (religious rights and freedoms). In 2013 she was appointed as a lecturer at the UFS. During her tenure as lecturer, she was appointed co-editor of the Journal for Juridical Science. She also applied and was selected for a scholarship programme (on religious rights and freedoms) of nine weeks in the United States of America. In 2014 she was awarded an international scholarship to continue her PhD in Belgium.
During the last five years (2013–2018) she published actively in at least 10 peer-reviewed publications.
She obtained her PhD on 29. September 2017 at the University of Antwerp / Free University of Brussels.
