Secularism is one of the drivers of marginalization of religion. What began at the government level in Western Europe has devolved to society-wide expectations in the West that religion is a private matter that must be restricted from the public sphere. However, constraining the public expression of religion and the organization of it in independent organizational structures can have a significant impact on religious adherents’ ability to practice their faith but also for society as a whole.
The International Journal for Religious Freedom (IJRF) invites submission for a special issue on the impact of secularism on religious freedom. The IJRF is an interdisciplinary, academic, peer-reviewed journal published by the International Institute for Religious Freedom. Submissions are therefore invited from any relevant fields such as sociology, religious studies, theology, philosophy, law, political studies and international relations.
Submissions may address specific situations or be theoretical. They can focus on a particular country or be international in scope.
Submissions to the IJRF should be approximately 4000 words. Authors should conform to the Guidelines for Authors found on the IJRF website. Authors may submit a proposal for prior approval by 31 January 2020. Deadline for submission of full articles is 31 May 2020. Acceptance is subject to peer review. Please submit to editor@iirf.eu.
