International Institute for Religious Freedom

The IIRF was prominently represented at the International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington, DC on February 4–5.

Deputy Director Kyle Wisdom interacted with many of the over 1,700 participants, including nearly all major religious freedom organizations, to explain the IIRF Violent Incidents Database and make contacts for data collection and sharing.

Meanwhile, Global Christian Relief showcased its new “Red List” of the 25 worst countries for persecution of Christians in five categories. The Red List is based on data from the Violent Incidents Database.

IIRF journal editor Janet Epp Buckingham was one of the panelists for an IRF Summit session on “Policing Religion in the Secularized West.”

In addition, a representative of the government of Colombia, Senator Ana Paola Agudelo Garcia, met with Dr. Wisdom. Garcia requested the meeting to discuss how the IIRF might consult with her on a project to demonstrate the value of supporting religious freedom.

“The IRF Summit provides a unique opportunity to meet face to face with leaders from around the world who are focused on religious freedom,” Wisdom commented.
